Pool Fans is a skill-based sports simulation game that offers pocket billiards games on a pool table that features a dark blue gradient baize tabletop and wooden rails. The player must attempt to knock all balls into the pockets before time runs out.
Unlike standard games, this game features solid red balls and a red cue ball. It also doesn't allow the player to use their cue stick's distance from the ball before release to gauge the amount of force that should hit the ball. Instead, it provides them with a ball icon in the lower-left area and a semicircular, charge-style power bar.
The player uses the automatic position of the cue stick and a thin line guide and targeting bubble to help them direct their shots. They can hit balls directly or use angled shots off the table's sidewalls. They earn bonuses that go toward their main score.
Pool Fans displays the bonus and score details next to the timer below a visual display of all collected balls. It requires that the player learn how to use a light touch with a steady hand when directing the cue stick and ball to target and hit a specific ball or cluster of balls. Even a slight unwanted overcharge or hand movement can result in loss of control.
